Futuristic Motion

The Knife Grinder, by Kazimir Severonic Malevich. Image taken from the Yale Art Gallery Website.

I saw this one the other day at the Yale Art museum (Yale University Art Gallery), and it has that cool Futuristic vibe to it (and some cubism too). I should say it probably has that vibe because it WAS painted by a Futurist, though the Russian Futurists where not exactly the same as the Italians. It reminded me immediately of the Duchamp painting, “Nude Descending a Staircase, No. 2” The same idea of representing movement by superimposing images:

On an unrelated note:
Aphex Twin. In the times when electronic music was supposed to be “thump thump thump thump thump ch thump ch thump ch” this guy came up with something that sounded like “thumpr creeshhittwaaa thump hssseeeetttjjuu seeee ttreeeeeesttttt”. And it was pretty cool.

  1. Today it was the turn of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. We were seeing some cubist art works… and yes, a sketch by Malevich!

    Definitely we are synchronized.
